    I'm still on with D&D (want to run Strahd next) but also getting ready to play 7th Sea (which looks really good, so good I'm a bit intimidated) and Star Trek (because I'm a msddive nerd).

    This is everything wrong with D&D

    Help me figure this out, folks.
    I'm trying to make someone fast, a high DEX Wood Elf who uses their speed to own the terrain and find new vantage points throughout any given encounter. While I was building this, I realized speed wasn't a thing you can build on like you can damage or the ability to hit. In fact, I looked up Usain Bolt (Because who hasn't heard of him) and found out he has a sprinting speed of 27 miles an hour. With that in mind, I tried building a character under level 10 with a speed similar, and this is what I got.
    • Wood Elf (Base move 35)
    • Monk 2 (+10)
    • Barbarian 5 (+10)
    • Mage 1 (Longstrider, +10 for an hour)
    • Rogue 2 (Bonus action Dash)
    This is a 10th level character that moves 195ft a round if they do nothing but sprint for that round. A round is 6 seconds, which means they move 32.5ft a second, so slightly over 22mph.

    A 10th level, magical humanoid, HIGHLY trained, under the influence of magic, is still slower than Usain Bolt. SURE, I can pick a Wondrous Rare item like boots of speed to double the move and bump it up to around 45mph but I can't justify a 10th level character getting such an incredibly rare item. Nor do I feel something like that is needed to reach such a goal.

    Got any better ideas to get this wood elf over 27mph without the help of a wondrous rare item?

    EDIT: Yes, I know Bolt couldn't actually run a marathon at that speed. I want this character to be able to run a Marathon at a speed faster than Bolt, because this is D&D and magic and so on!

    • Tabaxi (30) +Double move (Must move 0ft following round)
    • Barbarian 5 (+10)
    • Monk 2 (+10) +1 Ki to Dash as bonus action
    • Mage 1 (Longstrider, +10 for an hour)

    I finally got to play a proper game of this last night and it's brilliant. It's so easy to learn and quick to play, almost too quick, I was so sure that I had an extra round to score two more objectives! I still beat TGS Jonathan though :-)

    I finally got to play a proper game of this last night and it's brilliant. It's so easy to learn and quick to play, almost too quick, I was so sure that I had an extra round to score two more objectives! I still beat TGS Jonathan though :-)

    Having the boards set up so they're connected on the short side makes the game feel so different, I can't wait to try a multi player game :-)
